Explosives Canine Handlers Workshop

National Odor Recognition Testing (N.O.R.T.)
& Peroxide Based Explosives Imprinting
Sponsored by: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
Co-hosted by: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office

August 24th, 25th & 26th, 2010

This is a 3 day (24 total training hours) workshop specifically designed for explosives detection canine handlers and their canines. The workshop will consist of classroom presentations and practical exercises, to include the opportunity to take The National Odor Recognition Test. Testing is optional and not mandatory. Presentation topics will include: The National Odor Recognition Testing Procedures, Organic Based Peroxide Explosives, the ATF “Family Theory” of explosives and Explosives Contamination, Handling and Storage.

Practical Exercises will consist of Explosives Detection Canine Odor Recognition, Organic Based Peroxide Imprinting/Exposure and Explosives Detection Canine Problem Solving Techniques with ATF Canine Instructors.

All participants are asked to meet at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds @ 0800 on 8/24/10 for registration and scheduling.

All presentations and canine training will take place at the Jefferson County Fairground Exhibit Halls:
